Weekly Rundown more
  • This week, both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate are in session for legislative business. The Senate is expected to continue consideration ofS. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, which would provide regulatory relief to mid-sized and small banks from the most burdensome requirements of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, and allow private education loan lenders to request removal of the default record from a borrower’s credit report when he or she completes a series of on-time payments and rehabilitates the education loan. The House is scheduled to consider an Omnibus Appropriations package, which would provide discretionary funding for all federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Education, for the remaining six months of fiscal year 2018.
